Not many of these around but it's me, NOT in my garden.

This is a much better pic of my dill. The children like to walk by and smell it, lol. Not as much as they do the mint though.

This is my dill. It is very healthy and pretty. It's also the view of my garden from my porch.

I placed colorful plastic tubs in my garden to see if I liked the flash of color, I did!

Seems like it's been forever since I last posted. I have spent many hours in the garden. There are some problems but I do try toconsider them learning instead of failures. I read that somewhere. Blossom end rot and late blight. Tomatoes, peppers, and squash. 'course there has been alot of rain here in central Ar, zone 7. My sunflowers that my daddy started for me are finally 7ft tall and flowering, one is maroon and absolutely beautiful. This is the first year that I have looked for color and I'm finding that I like it. So next year I'll plant many flowers around the perimeter. Here are a few pictures...

Here is Baby Girl in my gardening hat and more of my plants.

Took new pictires of the garden. Iharvested all of my broccoli rabe and will probably wait a bit and plant winter squash. More onions and beets. I am planning to spend all day on the 22nd (according to the Farmer's Almanac, moon phases) planting. Here is a picture of Bull going over the front porch gate and my yellow squash. I gave my first squash to my sister-in-law. I think my brother would have smiled in his gentle way.

About 3pm I'll plant more seeds, not sure what yet. I just feel the need for growing. It's a good feeling. More experienced gardners are telling me it's been too wet and rainy for their gardens to flourish. I'm gonna just keep sowing. By the way, I do in fact live at the end of the rainbow. My house is the little white one in the back.

My tomatoes in the bales are growing. My nephew Robbie drove the metal rods into the ground with his tractor bucket. They will last there for years. I "created" the irrigation pipe and learned a lot. It was fun and I will correct the mistakes and do my whole garden. Cut down on labor and water evaporation.

Robert catching a chicken.

Robbie and the kids, up for a little visit.

This is the rose arbor that I now use as a grape trellis.

I planted many things Thurs, 04-23-09. Mostly from seed: parsley, dill, basil, eggplants, squash, watermelon (who for I wonder...), spinach, many wildflowers. Prayer, diligence, and water will help it all grow for me to share with my family and friends. I'm already planning on my fall garden. R.D. (my daddy) gave me weed-block cloth. It's down between the rows to keep down weeds of course and my labor. Nephew Robbie drove long metal rods into the ground very secure for my tomato trellis on top of my straw-bales. Life is good...

Robbie, my oldest nephew, tilled my garden for me the other day. Looks so wonderful and I have planted heirloom tomatoes. This is achingly sweet and touching because until this year it's been my precious older brother, Donnie, that has tilled and "gardened" with me. Robbie has admirably stepped into those great big empty shoes in my life, and so many other out here on "the property" as we usually refer to it. Or maybe it's just me that calls it that.

I have done a little straw-bale gardening this season. Along with the Heirloom tomatoes I've put cucumbers and lettuce. Still have bells to plant and herbs.

Last but not least, the chickens... chick - chick - chickkkkkk.

My sweet little Schnauzer sent to me by the Lord I believe, Tigger but I call her baby girl.

(She and I are in the chicken pen)

Bull, my faithful watchdog, watching the garden and porch and the nephew's horses.

Now here is my wonderful front porch and rocker. I spend alot of time here.

Here are two more great-nephews (different parents) and their little cousin and their beloved "MoMo', all eating cookie dough. Seth and Silas.

Here is my oldest nephew and his family, LaRhesa (wife), Tessa, Fern, Robert, Jude, Rose, and baby Solomon. Oh, his name is Robbie.

Hi everyone. Today starts my life of blog. Soon I hope to have pictures of the kids, dogs, garden, and chickens. My life, ahhhh, what a good one. I am blessed. Sixteen years ago, after my last divorce and my step-father's death, I moved in with my mother. I didn't have to buy a new home and she didn't have to go back to work. After she became ill and needed 24/7 care (5 years ago) my sweet sweet brother, Donnie, made me two raised beds totaling 9' x 32'. He's gone now too, very recently and left such a big void. Lately I've gotten chickens, 5, and named them of course. I can only imagine what he would have to say about that, lol. More later as I learn how to bloggggg.
